Considered one of the best zoos in the country, Audubon Zoo is definitely worth a visit – especially with the family! Set inside the Audubon Park, by the Mississippi River, the zoo is 58 acres and is home to over 2,000 animals from gorillas, to tigers and even Asian elephants!

Some of the exhibits and buildings at Audubon Zoo were built by the WPA program in an art deco/modernistic style. One of the most impressive features of this diverse zoo is the Swamp exhibit, which is home to some of Louisiana’s most native creatures from raccoons, nutria, otters, black bears and alligators.
